About
Hey, friend.
I’m Chris Young, a fitness coach and certified personal trainer based in Florida.
I used to think that I simply didn’t have the discipline to stick with a workout routine. Or that I had bad genetics and being in great shape wasn’t in my DNA.
I tried every diet out there. I took dangerous and highly questionable weight loss drugs. I scoured the internet looking for a magic bullet that would help me transform my body.
Nothing worked.
Well, nothing worked until I figured out that I had to change my mindset before I would ever see a significant change in my body. I didn’t need another diet or drug, or a magic bullet. What I needed was to change the way I viewed myself and my approach to fitness.
Are you ready to make real and lasting changes to your mind, body, and health?
More About Me:
I was born and raised in northeast PA (Lehigh Valley to be more precise…about an hour north of Philly) and lived there most of my life. I was “husky” for pretty much as long as I can remember. My dad even called me “beef.” To this day, I genuinely believe he thought it was a good thing and wasn’t trying to ruin my self esteem…but it happened anyway. Looking back, I realize I had a terrible relationship with food and wasn’t very active.
In 2008, I was a grown-ass adult living on my own and making my own choices. I started to “work out” at the gym but I can’t say I was very consistent or knew what the hell I was doing. I lived with roommates who didn’t think twice about what they ate or drank and was surrounded by temptation and bad influences.
In 2010 I moved to Tampa, Florida and surrounded myself with people who took health and fitness more seriously. I started working out using the typical “bro split.” I ate chicken Caesar salads for almost every meal. Eventually, I was introduced to Brazilian jiu jitsu and started training with a friend who did MMA. He helped me transform my body and get into the best shape of my life at the ripe old age of 23.
I’d love to tell you things got better from there, but the reality is that within 2 years I had let myself go and all of that hard work was seemingly for nothing. I met the girl I would eventually marry, became a workaholic, made a lot of money, bought a nice house, and had my first child. I was successful by most traditional metrics, but my health was taking a turn for the worse. I was so focused on becoming successful at work and supporting my family that I stopped taking care of myself. Soon, my weight shot up faster than my income.
By 2016, I knew that I needed to make a change. I was nearing 300 pounds and could hardly bend over to tie my own shoes.
In 2017, I found CrossFit and got back to lifting weights, but I didn’t change my eating habits. I built muscle, increased my aerobic capacity, and started to develop skills that would help me out later in my journey. I can genuinely say that I fell in love with the CrossFit community and the feeling of constantly making progress. I wouldn’t be where I am today without that old warehouse full of free weights and people yelling at me to work harder.
Today, I’m in the best shape of my life – physically, emotionally and spiritually. I completely transformed myself, and I can help you do the same.
